Chess clocks donated by PTSA

Hello, all in the Wakefield chess world.  As many of you know, we have been struggling to get our games completed within lunch time, or before the late activity bus arrives.  Worry no more!   The generous Wakefield PTSA just approved our request to fund 5 chess clocks for our play.  If you see a parent, teacher or student who is a PTSA member, please thank them.

I will keep the chess clocks in back storage and bring them out when requested.  It takes a few minutes to become used to playing under time pressure, so give yourself a practice game or two getting used to how the clocks operate.  I will give a short lesson in tournament use of clocks when you request one to borrow the first time.  The most important rule, no matter how long you set your clock, is that the hand you move with is the hand you press the timer button.  This way, no one gets to "sit" on the clock with their opposite hand.  In the chess world, this is akin to goalkeeping in basketball.

Look for the chess clocks to come out in the coming week.  I promise it will help keep your game on track, and allow you to finish games without being late to class.  Play on!
